Saturday Morning

My mother and sister-in-law came to town this weekend and of course they had to bring the best donuts in the world, Sandy's (I've been going there since I was little). When my mom comes now my three year old always asks if she has them. They seriously are to die for.

I think they're happy!

Maroon 5 Concert

Last night Maroon 5 played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul and I got a chance to go see them. They were outstanding!!! It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to! If there was ever a band to see it would be them. Not only is Adam Levine gorgeous, (sorry honey) he's also incredibly talented and funny. His energy and presence on stage is unreal. I've never been to a concert that I knew every song. Seriously so good!

 Magic! was the opening band

But the downer is that Spring didn't last as long as I would have liked. This is what I woke up to yesterday. Boo.

DIY Projects

I have always taken a liking to woodworking. At a young age I found it fascinating to see how a piece of plain old wood could be transformed into something completely different. I remember when I was in seventh grade I made my first peg board game out of wood (my mother still has it sitting on her mantel). I thought it was so neat. It doesn't really surprise me that I like working with my hands since both my father and brother are home builders (i guess it runs in my blood). As a graphic designer I love creating things on paper and now I've decided to try it on wood. Here are a few diy projects I've been working on. They're still a work in progress and I'm learning as I go but it was so much fun to do. Like I said before what started out as a piece of wood has turned into a serving tray and coasters. For my first time doing this I  think they turned out great! Now I just need to find the time to do more (the one thing I don't have).

After painting it white I distressed it with stain.

In love with how this tray turned out. I bought leather handles for the sides and
now just (patiently) waiting for them to arrive.

My work station is my dining room table. I'm sure my husband is loving that!

Our Weekend...

First off all I can say is I'm glad the weekend is over. Josh had to work Saturday morning and all day Sunday at the hospital and when he's gone that long it makes for long days for momma. He has one more overnight and then he's DONE!!! OMG I never thought this day would come. It's been three and half years in the making or eight with medical school (as you can tell I'm a little excited). Saturday morning I took the boys to Lakeshore Learning to make a craft project. The boys created these cute leprechaun masks.

After we finished we met Josh for lunch and a well deserved yummy treat.

Saturday night was kind of a bust. Porter was on a napping strike and by dinner was a wreck. We had dinner with our neighbors (if you call it that) and went home and sent the kids off to dreamland.

Sunday morning Josh left early for the hospital and I decided it was a pancake making sort of morning.

Can't really tell in this picture but Porter took two pancakes and made a sandwich with chocolate chips and syrup and topped them with whipped cream. Mr. Smarty Pants!

Campbell housed three all by himself.

After breakfast we met up with my friend Jen and her adorable kids Stella and Grayden at Maple Maze. It's an indoor park on steroids with a huge climber and slides galore. Porter was a little shy at first to climb without me but eventually warmed up to Stella and they ended up having a blast. Campbell was a little to small to climb and I didn't feel like dodging pre-teens in tight quarters with a one year old. Next year I'm sure him and Porter will be running through those tunnels like no ones business.

These two... So cute!

After about the sixth meltdown from Campbell it was time to go home and take a nap. We hung out there and rested for awhile and then headed to the hospital to meet Josh. Every time he works a shift like that we bring him dinner and the boys get to run laps around the hospital and play hockey with dad. Good way to get out some of that boy energy.

I'm not going lie and say I'm going to miss the days that Josh works overnights at the hospital (24 more hours aaahhh!!!) because I won't. Seriously can not wait! I think there's going to be a huge party in our future (for the both of us)!
