Trip to Toronto

Last week Josh and I went to Toronto because he had an APA work conference to attend and I was lucky enough to tagged along. My mother was gracious enough to watch the boys so we could have some adult time while we were there. I probably wouldn't have ever gone to Toronto if it weren't for Josh's work but I'm glad I went because we had such a good time. I also really liked the city. It felt like a combination of Chicago and Austin, TX. We stayed at a really nice hotel called the Shangri-La (which might be the nicest hotel we've stayed at to date) and eat, drank and shopped until our hearts were content (and of course a little business on the side too). Here are some of the highlights of our trip.
Have you ever seen a metro without walls? It seriously went on forever!

Nice way to start our vacation (or I mean business trip) :)

Ever heard of something called Poutine? Sounds sexual right? Nope it's french fries covered in cheese curds and topped with gravy. I guess it's a Toronto favorite. I call it a heart attack waiting to happen. People love it. I could live without it.

We walked down this really cool and kind of quirky street called Queens Street. It had bars, restaurants and shops we don't have in Minneapolis. There were some really neat things. What was not so neat was their sales tax. 13%!!! When you live in Minnesota and don't have to pay tax on clothes it was a little hard to stomach. We kept hearing of this amazing Mexican restaurant that all the locals said we should try called Grand Electric. Josh and I were both agreed we should try it. But what we thought was just a couple of blocks walk ended up being two miles. Queens street just kept going. We stopped at a few places along the way. I didn't think the place actually existed.

Once we finally got there I think Josh thought he was in heaven. I thought the food was okay. I probably wouldn't go back but I know Josh would.

We also tried a place called Momofuku Noodle Bar. Josh heard great things about it and plus it was attached to our hotel. It was a win, win. They had these huge bowls of ramen noodles which was super yummy. Did I mention this was just a mid afternoon snack?

For dessert we got fried apple pie ice cream from Milk

As if we hadn't eaten enough we met up with Josh's friends from residency for dinner. I wasn't that hungry because we just inhaled a ton of carbs so we (or should I say I) kept dinner fairly light. We went to Daisho which was also part of our hotel and the food there was also amazing.

Of course you can't go to Toronto without seeing the CN Tower. They even had it lit up to the Vikings colors.

We had a lot of fun but were so ready to squish our little humans back home.

My Recent Anthroplogie Purchases

As I said in my previous post I went to Anthropologie last weekend because they were having a Mother's Day Sale. It was 20% anything including regular priced items. Also Josh and I are going to Tornoto this weekend and wanted some cute new clothes for the trip. Here's what I picked up.

It's very rare that I spurge on things but I have been eyeing (no pun intended) this top for sometime and since it was 20% I had to buy it.

I serious could have bought one of everything in that store. This store gets me everytime!

Mother's Day Weekend

I had the best Mother's Day this year! Friday night we stayed in and grilled because we just bought a new table for our deck. We were pretty excited to use it. It's probably one of my favorite pieces that we own.
Saturday the weather was gorgeous. Porter had a t-ball game (which is still going really well) and once that was over we hung around the field for a little bit and went home for nap time.
Once the boys woke up we thought it would be fun to go downtown Minneapolis to get a bite to eat. Well it turned out to be a huge shit show! Porter woke up from his nap crabby and Campbell was off as well. He didn't nap so I think he was tired. We ate at Punch Pizza (if you remember my story a few months ago when I took them their by myself and all hell broke loose) and Porter didn't want his pizza and cried and Campbell wanted to throw this milk all over the place and when we tried taking it away he'd loose his mind. It was a very interesting dinner. I'm sure the people sitting next to us didn't envious at all. I sure wouldn't. Maybe we need to stop eating there. But things turned around because after dinner we took the boys to Izzy's Ice Cream. Best ice cream in town by far! Campbell has never have an ice cream cone before so it was pretty comical watching him try to eat it. There's a park across the street so we played and ran around and they boys were actually really happy and had fun.
My loves

Sunday (Mother's Day) my wonderful husband let me sleep in and when I woke the boys gave me their presents from school that they made. Porter was really excited! They are the cutest things ever. I just love them to pieces.

Josh got me custom drapes for our bedroom that we both have wanted since we moved into our house over three years ago. To say I'm excited is an understatement. Here's the pattern we chose. It's going to change the whole look of our bedroom. Stay tuned!
We went out to brunch at Lunds and Byerlys Kitchen and since it was Mother's Day I got a free mimosa.

Typical family photo

After brunch we headed to the field again because Porter had another game. We weren't sure it was going to happen because it rained on and off all morning. But the rain stopped and held off until the game ended. After the game we ran a few errands and the boys slept in the car (one of us was always in the car with them of course). One place I needed to go was Anthropologie (which is another post) because they were having a sale that was 20% off anything in the store. As long as I've been shopping there I've never seen this kind of sale. I grabbed a few pieces I've been eyeing for a while. My husband just laughed at me when I came out with the bags. Hey it's Mother's Day for pete sakes!

Sunday night we had a sitter come over and Josh and I went to 112 Eatery with one of my best friends and her husband. It was the perfect way the end the perfect day.

New Prints and the weekend ...

Hey everyone here are some new prints I've been working on lately. They are all on my Etsy page. Also our weekend in pictures.

Our weekend ...
I walk out to this and they look at me like "what"? They completely destroyed the porch.

Porter had his first T-ball games this weekend and LOVED it! He did great! He keeps asking when he gets to play again. Score one for Josh and me!!

Game days are exhausting.
