Personalized Baby Gift

My husband's good friends from growing up have their second child recently. So I decided it was a good time to venture out (beyond the walls of my house) and create unique custom art just for him. I hope they enjoy it as much as I did creating it. (Lighting is a little dark. Had to wait to take the photos until the kids were asleep).

Our Texas Weekend

If you read my previous post you know my husband and I went to Austin for a friend's wedding and had a delay in Dallas. It wouldn't have been a big deal but we were only going to be gone for literally 36 hours so every hour that we missed in Austin was kind of a big deal.
We were suppose to get in around 4:00 pm but instead getting in at 6:30 pm (this was just the start of our hellish weekend, not the wedding part of course). We needed to still get our rental car and check in to the hotel and get ready all before 7:30 pm (which was when the grooms dinner was). Needless to say we didn't make it (I even did my make-up in the car on the way to the hotel from the airport, in the dark for god sakes). That was kind of a bummer but we made the best of the situation. After we checked in, and got ready we headed to 6th St. to meet up with our friends. We started at Driskill hotel which was really a neat place. I have never been to Austin before but if I were to think of one place that would best represent the city this place would be it (besides their BBQ).

Since we didn't have the kiddos we were going to make the most out of our very short trip (and we definitely did). We hung out around 6th St. for a while and then took a pedicab (so much fun) to Rainey St.

Trying to get a picture on the pedicab. Didn't work so well.

On Rainey St. they had a ton of food trucks. We barely ate anything that day with all the traveling and I didn't even realize how hungry I was until I saw them. Late night snacking always tastes better with a side of booze.

Sunday morning was rough. I woke up with a killer hangover. That wasn't going to stop us from exploring a little (so I thought). We ended up going to the Salt Lick. Josh went about 10 years ago and swore if he ever got back to Austin it would be on his to do list. We got there right when it opened and there was already a line. Josh was in heaven. I liked it but I probably would have liked it more if I wasn't nursing my drunkenness from the night before.

By the time our meal was over my hangover caught up with me and I needed to take a nap before the wedding so we went back to our hotel. We stayed at the Lone Star Court. It was very Texas and their theme was retro. Loved the barn door!

I finally started to feel a little better after some Advil and a nap but that was short lived because we got a notification that our flight from Dallas to Minneapolis had been cancelled (we were suppose to leave the next day)! The worst part was that we didn't know how or when we'd be getting back. It wouldn't have been such a big deal but we had a sitter watching the kiddos while we were gone. Normally Josh's dad or my parents could have gotten them but both were traveling as well. We ended up booking another flight after spending three hours on the phone with the airlines. I see a dispute/fight in our future! Anyway once that got resolved we headed to the wedding.

We had so much fun! It took place at The Allen House. The venue and the decor was stunning. The bride and groom were beautiful and in love. Austin was having abnormally cool weather so my only complaint was that I was freezing at times but I didn't let that ruin the fun.

Mother of the groom

Total photo bomb!

My husband looked so handsome

We ended up staying out late again. I should listen to my husband more often. He's been saying for years in order to cure a hangover drink more and drink we did (which we paid for at 4:45 am when we had to get up to catch our flight) and yet again nursed another hangover. But it was okay because we were going home to the two cutest boys. We missed them so much. We definitely had a great time and can't wait to go back again someday.

The Joys Of Flying

Josh and I on our way to Austin, TX for a wedding without the kids and of course our plane gets delayed in Dallas (we never travel without them). We thought this would be a good time to bust out our stash. Takes the edge off a little (making lemonade out of lemons).

Steals and Deals

I hate paying full price for anything so when I see a good sale I can't resist. My husband and I scored some killer deals recently.

NorthFace is having a huge clearance sale on their winter clothes. Since we live in Minnesota and winter doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon it seemed like the perfect time to stock up on new gear. Here are just a few items we got.

(Josh bought this in a two-toned blue)

(Can't wait to wear this. So warm!)

(This looks huge but we got it for Porter)

Everything was 25% off and then an additional 20% off of that. Josh also bought a couple sweatshirts and zip up hoodies as well.

We had Campbell with us and he kept running out of the store and it just so happened he ran into a store that was also having a sale. Trail Mark had all their clearance 40% off. So we ended up getting a few things there including a Patagonia backpack, Uggs slippers and a trucker hat (okay it's not really a trucker hat and it wasn't on sale but I thought Josh looked so cute in it I couldn't resist). Thanks Campbell!

(I have always wanted a pair of Ugg slippers and they were 40% off)

The final store we went to was Len. They had 50%-75% off the entire store and I scored a pair of TOMS for $28! I'm not sure what I'm going to wear them with because they are little out of my style realm but I'd thought I'd give them a try (Josh really like them too which was the main reason I bought them).

I'd say all and all we did pretty good. I love getting good deals!

Mother of two

As a mother of two boys life isn't always easy and sometimes i want to pull my hair out and kick (seriously, no lie). Regardless of how crazy life is I wouldn't change it for the world. Love these two to death.

When daddy's away the boys with play (and make a huge mess).

I'm very blessed to be their mommy.
