Our Texas Weekend

If you read my previous post you know my husband and I went to Austin for a friend's wedding and had a delay in Dallas. It wouldn't have been a big deal but we were only going to be gone for literally 36 hours so every hour that we missed in Austin was kind of a big deal.
We were suppose to get in around 4:00 pm but instead getting in at 6:30 pm (this was just the start of our hellish weekend, not the wedding part of course). We needed to still get our rental car and check in to the hotel and get ready all before 7:30 pm (which was when the grooms dinner was). Needless to say we didn't make it (I even did my make-up in the car on the way to the hotel from the airport, in the dark for god sakes). That was kind of a bummer but we made the best of the situation. After we checked in, and got ready we headed to 6th St. to meet up with our friends. We started at Driskill hotel which was really a neat place. I have never been to Austin before but if I were to think of one place that would best represent the city this place would be it (besides their BBQ).

Since we didn't have the kiddos we were going to make the most out of our very short trip (and we definitely did). We hung out around 6th St. for a while and then took a pedicab (so much fun) to Rainey St.

Trying to get a picture on the pedicab. Didn't work so well.

On Rainey St. they had a ton of food trucks. We barely ate anything that day with all the traveling and I didn't even realize how hungry I was until I saw them. Late night snacking always tastes better with a side of booze.

Sunday morning was rough. I woke up with a killer hangover. That wasn't going to stop us from exploring a little (so I thought). We ended up going to the Salt Lick. Josh went about 10 years ago and swore if he ever got back to Austin it would be on his to do list. We got there right when it opened and there was already a line. Josh was in heaven. I liked it but I probably would have liked it more if I wasn't nursing my drunkenness from the night before.

By the time our meal was over my hangover caught up with me and I needed to take a nap before the wedding so we went back to our hotel. We stayed at the Lone Star Court. It was very Texas and their theme was retro. Loved the barn door!

I finally started to feel a little better after some Advil and a nap but that was short lived because we got a notification that our flight from Dallas to Minneapolis had been cancelled (we were suppose to leave the next day)! The worst part was that we didn't know how or when we'd be getting back. It wouldn't have been such a big deal but we had a sitter watching the kiddos while we were gone. Normally Josh's dad or my parents could have gotten them but both were traveling as well. We ended up booking another flight after spending three hours on the phone with the airlines. I see a dispute/fight in our future! Anyway once that got resolved we headed to the wedding.

We had so much fun! It took place at The Allen House. The venue and the decor was stunning. The bride and groom were beautiful and in love. Austin was having abnormally cool weather so my only complaint was that I was freezing at times but I didn't let that ruin the fun.

Total photo bomb!

My husband looked so handsome

We ended up staying out late again. I should listen to my husband more often. He's been saying for years in order to cure a hangover drink more and drink we did (which we paid for at 4:45 am when we had to get up to catch our flight) and yet again nursed another hangover. But it was okay because we were going home to the two cutest boys. We missed them so much. We definitely had a great time and can't wait to go back again someday.
